Quality Assurance Lead:

Schaumburg, IL/Salary up to $65,000

The QA Lead will be responsible for day-to-day software QA operations in technology department. He/She will handle creation, implementation, and maintenance of the QA process and operations within the software delivery life cycle (SDLC), building from scratch where needed and extending existing process when beneficial. He/She will seek to eliminate or at the least greatly minimize the risk of bugs and issues with software releases, and improve the overall quality of software delivery.


  • Create, implement, and maintain the software QA process within the software delivery life cycle (SDLC).
  • Administer and implement the QA toolsets in coordination with the Applications team.
  • Create and maintain the templates for test plans and test cases.
  • Create test plans and test cases for specific projects and/or platforms, including mobile platforms.
  • Consult with the project teams (including technology team members, product owners and other representatives from other departments) to understand software requirements, acceptance criteria, etc. in order to ensure comprehensive test case coverage.
  • Migrate any pre-existing test cases into the QA tool.
  • Direct other QA's (internal and/or contracted), especially in assignment of test cases for execution within the context of a project.
  • Direct execution of test cases when needed.
  • Train other QA's as needed, including creation and management of training documentation and other helpful resources.
  • Provide estimates for the software QA efforts involved in projects and requests.
  • Provide reports and objective data about progress, activity, and value of assigned duties, especially the QA phase/efforts involved in software projects.
  • Personally support and seek to implement departmental and organizational values in day-to-day activities, and work in coordination with related strategic initiatives.
  • Advise on and recommend valuable QA toolsets, for manual and automated testing.
  • Work with technology vendors, especially software extended delivery center and external users as needed with clear and concise communication.
  • Stay current on evolving technologies and best practices.
  • Respond to communications from customers and constituents.
  • Participate in team and departmental meetings, team brainstorming, professional development sessions, and annual individual goal setting process.
  • Support, uphold and demonstrate the cultural values in internal and external communications and relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) with a concentration in computer science or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in an enterprise environment involving customer service, process development, quality assurance, and/or creation of documentation.
  • 3+ years' experience with formal manual test tools, common software quality test tools and SDLC; experience with automated tools desired.
  • Working knowledge of QA processes, practices and systems.
  • Experience executing and coordinating integration, system, regression, and user-acceptance testing.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and QA applications.
